Want to get into a company or meet an individual? Write about them.
Any company or prominent individual who’s worth their salt will be aware of Google Alerts.
Google Alerts will fire you an email whenever mentions you or your company. So bearing this in mind, if you write about a specific company or individual on your website, they should get to hear about it.
Last week we wrote an article about a great book we read called Marketing Lessons from the Grateful Dead. A few days later, the author, David Meerman Scott, saw the article and wrote a comment about it on our blog. This easily opens up a conversation with him.
So David must have Google Alerts set up for his name and the title of his book (which is great for him to thank anyone praising him and to counter any criticism.)
What you need to do?
Think about the companies you want to talk to and the individuals you would like to meet.
Set up Google Alerts for them so you know what’s happening with them.
Write about them in a positive way on your website, and while you’re at it, follow them on Facebook & Twitter and comment on their posts & tweets.
