How Important Is Link Building Now & In The Future?
Link building has always been an integral part of search engine optimisation. Google has always seen them as a good measure of the quality of a website, because the more websites that link to your website, the better your website is, right?
There are many different types of links you can get from poor quality link farms to high quality, theme related links. Let me explain the difference.
Link Farms or Directories
Link Farms or Directories are just lists of links, where your link will most likely appear alongside your competitors or completely unrelated links. Very often your link will appear in the sidebar or footer which isn’t great. They give you the tick in the box for getting links, but not much more. They certainly won’t generate any valuable customers.
Theme Related Links
This is where you find a website which is well ranked and has content which relates to your website. Your link will appear in the actual body content of the page and is likely to direct high quality traffic to your website.
The Google +1 Button
The problem with links is that “Link Building Companies” have become so prolific, that links are no longer a clear indicator of a website’s popularity and Google knows this.
In response, Google have recently launched their Google +1 Button, which works similar to Facebook Likes. The more clicks the website gets, the more popular the website is.
It is our belief that in the near future, Google will downgrade or completely remove the importance of low quality links in favour of Google +1 clicks.
We also believe that high quality, theme related links will remain extremely important, which begs the question, How do I get more high quality links?

Totally agree James, I think there is a lot changing in the online world, I still think that there will still be a lot gained from the correct type of back link, however the search engines especially the big “G” are VERY clever, so trying to trick them is a no no. like your site James, will will have to hook up! I am in the same field as you! regards Mark, Skype markrusling
Thanks for your comment Mark. I was always told to never try and do anything to promote your website that you wouldn’t tell your competition about. This has always kept me on the right side of Google (I think). Would be good to hook up for a chat like you say. When’s a good time to Skype you?
