England are out of the World Cup and I blame Tescos, B&Q & You
It’s so easy to blame our national side for playing poorly as a team, but that removes responsibility from you and me.
With theories abound as to why England are out of the World Cup, I thought I’d like to share my theory which takes the emphasis away from Rooney, Lampard and Capello and puts Tescos, B&Q, You and Me firmly in the frame.
We have great players but a poor team, but I don’t think we should be asking what have they done wrong (who cares, it’s just a game). I think we should be asking what have WE done wrong.
Our football team represents our nation, and I think they have done an absolutely wonderful job in doing just that – representing our nation.
As a nation we are fractious, often caring more about ourselves than the greater good of society.
Large organizations like Tescos and B&Q have certainly contributed to this breakdown in community, but we aren’t devoid of any blame. Instead of going to local shops and talking to people we know, from families who live near us, we go to large anonymous shops because it’s easier and cheaper for ME. Who cares how it affects the community, I’m better off.
We talk about building businesses where we develop long term relationships with our clients, when secretly we have a three year plan where we plan to sell up and sell out.
It’s all about me me me
This attitude seems to be so abundant when we watch our national team play. They don’t seem to care about each other or what they’re trying to achieve. They’re all going home to their large houses and larger pay salaries, so who cares about the team? Who cares about the community?
Watching South American teams where societies are much closer together and communities stronger, it seems like everyone are friends and actually care about each other.
After scoring a goal, instead of running up to the crowd to celebrate alone, they often run up to each other and hug.
When they’re substituted, the guys on the bench shake each their hands and congratulate them on playing so well.
It’s so easy to blame our national side for playing poorly as a team, but that removes responsibility from you and me, which prevents us from doing anything about it.
If we want our country to be better represented, I think we need to first of all improve our country, our towns, villages, businesses and families. We need to work closer together for the long term greater good, rather than for short term selfish gains. Only then will our national sport’s team stand a chance of playing as a team on the world stage and representing a country that we’re proud of.
But having said all that…….Rooney and Lampard were shit!
